Skookum's decision to be a non-profit emanated from a sincere desire to help people with disabilities. Rather than returning profits to stockholders at the end of the year, we invest it into work and lifestyle activities that support people with disabilities.
This division employs only people with severe disabilities. But hold on - for over 15 years, they've been producing world-class high quality ropes. A national champion jumper is employed to promote their products. Whether you want one rope or you're a corporation and would like to sponsor a world-class show - it doesn't matter - you'll love the company and its products.
Skookum Environmental Services, has contracted with Jefferson County Public Works Department since 1993 to maintain and operate the Jefferson County Recycle Center. By contract Skookum is responsible for the management and servicing of Public recyclables collection box sites county wide; the processing and marketing of recyclables received from public sites and from residential curbside and commercial collection haulers in Jefferson County and the City of Port Townsend.
In addition to the resource recovery plan Skookum contracts with the County to provide a work-training program for Jefferson County adult residences with developmental disabilities at the recycle facility.
